As we approach Christmas we are reminded that God sent his Son. Christmas also reminds us that we have been given a sign that demands whom we will put our faith in. Isaiah prophesied to the king Ahaz. Despite Ahaz’s rebellion, God was still faithful and told him he would give him a sign that “the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14), which means God is with us. So as we celebrate Christmas are reminded that God’s Son, Jesus Christ is with us.
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers" (Psalm 1:1). Company matters, and we are encouraged to follow the only true righteous one, Jesus! No one else, but Jesus!
"Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad" (Proverbs 12:35). Here's a good word: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). No one else, but Jesus!
I think the greatest weakness in the church today is that almost no one believes that God invests his power in the Bible. Everyone is looking for power in a program, in a technique, in anything and everything except where God has placed it: His Word.
